U.S. turkey exports for the first seven months of this year set a record in value, egg and broiler exports post gain in volume from the same period a year earlier, according to new trade data released by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service.
Angola, Ghana, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Haiti, Colombia, Dominican Republic, China, Gambia, South Africa, Peru, Mauritania, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Qatar, Kazakhstan, and Bahamas registered tremendous gains in broiler exports from the same period a year earlier.
Broiler exports for the first seven months of this year were 1,770,326 metric tons, up 0.2 percent from the same period of last year, while export value was $2.603 billion, down 1.9 percent. Of the total shipment, 50.0 percent or 885,500 tons were exported to the top six markets, including Mexico, Cuba, Taiwan, Canada, Philippines, and Guatemala.
Exports to Mexico in January-July 2026 were 405,348 metric tons, down 2.1 percent from the same period a year earlier. During the same period, Brazilian chicken exports to Mexico were 139,781 metric tons, up 11.1 percent year over year, while Chilean chicken exports to Mexico were 12,028 metric tons, down 25.2 percent.
Exports to Cuba decreased by 21.9 percent to 104,232 metric tons, while shipments to the Taiwan dropped by 19.6 percent to 101,526 tons. Exports to other important markets were Canada, 101,524 tons, down 2.4 percent; Philippines, 91,557 tons, down 26.7 percent; Guatemala, 81,313 tons, up 3.9 percent; Angola, 68,369 tons, up 50.5 percent; Vietnam, 68,178 tons, up 25.1 percent; Ghana, 65,373 tons, up 53.1 percent; China, 59,788 tons, up 18.6 percent.
Cumulative turkey exports for January through July this year were 114,241 metric tons, up 11.2 percent from the same period a year earlier, while export value set a record at $529.3 million, up 27.4 percent. The increase in export value is due in part to increased exports of value-added turkey products such as prepared turkey meals and turkey sausages and franks. Of the total quantity exported, 86.9 percent or 99,306 metric tons were exported to the top six markets, including Mexico, Canada, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Jamaica, with Mexico alone accounting for 79.7 percent or 91,062 metric tons.
Total egg exports (table eggs plus egg products in shell egg equivalent) for the first seven months of 2026 increased by 40.9 percent to 110.9 million dozen. The value of those exports decreased by 42.9 percent to $158.0 million.
