The U.S. chicken industry continues to be one of the country's largest economic drivers, contributing $449.5 billion in total economic activity and supporting 1.38 million jobs, according to the latest economic impact study published by Chicken Feeds America and funded by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association (USPOULTRY). The report shows that the industry generates $90.9 billion in wages annually and contributes $36.7 billion in government tax revenue, including $14.15 billion in state taxes and $22.51 billion in federal taxes.
Beyond farms and processing plants, the industry's economic impact extends throughout the supply chain, supporting jobs in feed production, transportation, equipment manufacturing, packaging, retail and foodservice. The study highlights the chicken sector's significant role in strengthening local economies and supporting communities across the United States.
