U.S. Turkey Exports Set Value Record, Broiler Volume Rises

U.S. turkey exports reached a record value in January 2026, broiler export volume rose, and egg exports declined slightly, according to USDA data.

Broiler exports totaled 244,547 tons, up 2.0% year over year, though value fell 4.9% to $349.9 million. Over half of shipments went to top markets including Mexico, Cuba, Taiwan, Vietnam, Canada, and Guatemala. Exports to Mexico dropped 13.6%, while shipments to China, Cuba, and Taiwan also declined. However, exports to markets such as Vietnam, the Philippines, Angola, and Haiti showed strong growth.

Turkey exports reached 19,452 tons, up 33.6%, with export value surging 76.1% to a record $91.6 million. Growth was driven by higher-value products like prepared meals and sausages. Mexico remained the dominant market despite a 44.7% drop in volume, while exports to Canada also declined. Shipments to Guatemala and several Central American markets increased significantly.

Total egg exports were 11.9 million dozen, nearly unchanged year over year, but value fell sharply to $18.3 million.

Table egg exports dropped 53.7% to 3.7 million dozen. Exports to Canada fell 83.6%, while exports to Mexico rose sharply compared to a very low level a year earlier.

Egg product exports increased 59.3% to 2,242 tons, with value up 61.9% to $12.1 million. Key markets included the EU-27, Japan, Mexico, and Canada, with particularly strong growth in the EU-27 and Japan.
